All set to form the government in Delhi with outside support of the Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is determined to act against "previous corrupt ministers" of both the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
According to the party's leader and chief minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal, the rookie party considers its partner "as part of the opposition" with "no direct role in governance."
Under criticism for joining hands with the Congress, the AAP has created YouTube videos to offer an explanation. During campaigning, AAP had termed both the Congress and the BJP "most corrupt parties" and got a vote on that account.
There are four separate videos, uploaded on AAP's website, with English, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu subtitles in which Arvind Kejriwal himself explained, "Yes, we're forming a minority government," and goes on to explain "What is a minority government"
The videos then show a drawing placing AAP on the government side and bracketing both BJP and Congress as the opposition.
"No ministry will be given to Congress. They will not be part of the government," he said. "Some people asked us to maintain equidistance from both Congress and BJP. Some asked us to form a government, prove that we can deliver, and if they pull the rug under our feet, the public will teach them a lesson. People were very passionate about both views."
"So we asked this question to 36 lakh people in Delhi -- should we form the government," said Kejriwal while a clip from one of the many public meetings played out amid the background tune of Vande Matram.
"An overwhelming majority said yes. And we bow to people's decision," explained Kejriwal.
AAP has sent out a clear, strong message to its "rivals".
"We will take action against any previous corrupt ministers of Congress and BJP. And we will implement all 18 promises we made to the people," Kejriwal said.
Attacking the BJP, Kejriwal said in the videos, "If we don't form the government, BJP says we're running away from responsibility to give Delhi a government. If we do it, it says we're the B-team of the Congress. We don't think of Congress and BJP. We think only of the common man. Our focus is only solving people's problems."
