While corporators have just a month to go to pass Mumbai’s Development Plan (DP) 2034, they are yet to start a discussion on the plan in the general body.
Add to this, the civic corporation will have only 3 meetings in the month of May. A civic official confirmed that the corporation will have a vacation post May 10. The next meeting will only be held in June. The newly-elected corporators are supposed to pass the city’s 20-year blueprint by May 19.
This means corporators are likely to seek another extension for the already delayed plan.
The 227 corporators had sought an extension for two months in March to study the plan. On Monday, the administration also initiated a 7-day inquiry-desk for the corporators who have doubts regarding the plans. Senior civic officials say that there can be an extension for the inquiry session as well, in case all questions are not resolved in a week’s time.
The city’s blueprint was to be passed in 2014, but faced several roadblocks in the last three years. Without a sanctioned DP in place, the city is facing several hassles in the realy sector.
