On the occasion of the 300th martyrdom day of Sikh warrior Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, his memorial at Chappar Chiri will showcase his life and philosophy through a laser show on June 25.
The administration is leaving no stone unturned to make the event a success. “As part of the observance of the martyrdom of the Sikh general the laser show will be held to make the young generation aware of the philosophy of Baba Banda Bahadur,” shared member parliament Prem Singh Chandumajra.
He added, “Before the commencement of the show officials of defence forces would pay homage to the Sikh general.”
To ensure maximum participation the 23 councillors of SAS Nagar MC during a recent meeting were asked not only to attend the laser show along with family members, but also to ensure maximum participation from their wards.
“One cannot say that we have been assigned target but we have been asked to see the show along with our family as the laser show depicts rich history of Sikh valour. We have been asked to ensure that youth in our wards are asked to watch the show,” said a councillor.
The show is open for all. The laser show at the memorial in Chappar Chiri will depict the martyr’s contribution in the abolition of Jagirdari system from the control of Mughals and issued coins and seals in the name of Guru Nanak Dev and Guru Gobind Singh. Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was the first one to establish Khalsa Raj in 1710.
HOARDINGS COME UP ON BUSY TRAFFIC SIGNALS
Huge hoarding announcing the event have been put up on busy traffic lights in SAS Nagar. Though neither MC, nor the administration officials are ready to talk, but these hoardings are in violation of the directions of the Punjab and Haryana HC that had restrained putting up such hoarding on the traffic light points, saying that these could be a big distraction for commuters.
PATCHWORK TAKEN UP
The laser show has come as a blessing for the residents of Chappar Chiri as the administration has finally undertaken the repair work of the roads leading to the memorial, even though as of now they are just doing patchwork to fill up the potholes.
