Punjab assembly speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal said eviction of the two independent MLA brothers from the House on Friday was a painful decision.
Talking to the media here on Saturday, Atwal said Bains brothers disrupted the proceedings of the House over the water issue when tributes were to be paid to BR Ambedkar on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary in the ongoing monsoon session of the assembly.
Atwal said he had also accepted the no-confidence motion of the opposition for discussion, but Bains brothers started creating ruckus in the House, forcing him to order their eviction.
The speaker said they could have raised their issue at some other time and they should not have created ruckus in the House. He said main opposition party, the Congress, had also failed to play constructive role in the House .He said that leader of opposition should have spoken more about the contribution of Dr Ambedkar, but he chose to lambaste the state government most of the time in his speech.
Atwal rued that many legislators of both ruling and opposition parties did not come prepared in the assembly and create ruckus just to register their presence for the constituencies.
