Sultanpur Lodhi man (28) committed suicide on Tuesday evening by consuming poison after posting a video on a social-networking website to blame his NRI (non-resident Indian) wife and in-laws. He also left a note.
After watching the video, friends rushed to the house of Tarun Kumar and took him to hospital but it failed to save him. In the video, he said he was married to Canada-based Rachanjeet Kaur of Jalandhar’s Dashmesh Nagar, whose father, Rajinder Pardesi, had filed a “false dowry complaint” against him.

“Additional deputy commissioner of police (special branch) Harpreet Singh Mander is investigating the complaint,” Kumar said further. “And my in-laws threaten my family for money.”
He also named his wife’s mother, Sukhwinder Kaur, and sister, Bhavjot Kaur.
Sultanpur Lodhi station house officer (SHO) Harpreet Singh said that a case under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) had been registered against the victim’s wife and in-laws on the basis of the suicide note.
“His wife is in Canada but raids are on to arrest his in-laws,” the station house officer said.
