The residents and pet owners will be able to avail animal care facility by the Chandigarh UT department of animal husbandry. The department has started the services of Animal Ambulance for small/pet animals from Friday.
The ambulance, started under MPLAD scheme, will transport sick and injured animals for treatment to nearby government veterinary hospitals. This state of the art ambulance will operate at a nominal fare of Rs 300 per to-and-fro trip. The ambulance is equipped with first aid and emergency medication and will be given under the supervision of para-veterinary staff. The ambulance will reach at the doorstep of sick animal, take it to the nearest government veterinary hospital, and even drop it back at the owner’s house after treatment.
In addition, this ambulance will serve as mobile veterinary clinic which will cater to the requirements of livestock owners of villages Makhan Majra, Jhumru Faidan, Raipur Kalan and Raipur Khurd on a bi-weekly basis, as these villages don’t have the facility of veterinary hospital.
