A 19-year-old girl and her brother fell off from their scooter and were critically injured after two motorcyclists allegedly molested the girl, on the night of January 12. The girl could record her statement on Thursday evening after which a case was registered.

The girl and her brother were coming from the Nada Sahib Gurdwara when two youths — Ashok and Harpal Singh — both from Ambala, started following them on their bike. At the start of the Ghaggar bridge, the boys came close to the scooter. One of the boys then touched the girl on her back. The girl got scared and lost balance on her scooter. “The heads of both brother and sister hit the bridge railing,” said Chandimandir SHO inspector Baljeet Singh. Ashok and Harpal also fell down, the cops added.

The police got all four admitted to General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula. The girl and her brother were then referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, the same day. Ashok and Harpal fled from the hospital, said the SHO.

“A case has been registered under Sections 354-A (physical touch), 279 (rash driving) and 337 (hurt by act endangering life or personal safety) of the IPC after recording the girl’s statement. We have recovered the motorcycle of the accused, who are from Ambala,” said the SHO.
