Ballet, ballet ho gayi!

At an ongoing dance festival in Delhi, Indian classical form is mixed with Western ballet.

It is the season to dance. Currently on in the Capital is the Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra’s annual summer ballet — which presents a bouquet of six productions. Traditional Indian dance and story-telling comes together with western dance in compelling performances. On tomorrow is a performance, which explores the legend of Durga and the Mahishasura. And on May 7 and 8, the seven chakras of the Kundalini comes to life. The dances have been produced and directed by Shobha Deepak Singh and vocalist Shubha Mudgal. Puppeteer Dadi Pudumjee have also been involved in the productions.
