Auqaf-e-Shahi issues notice to MP Wakf Board

In another twist to the ongoing tussle between Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board and Auqaf-e-Shahi, the latter served a legal notice on the former, seeking rent against their office.

In another twist to the ongoing tussle between MP Waqf Board and Auqaf-e-Shahi (royal trust managed by daughter of Nawab Pataudi, Saba and persons of her choice), the latter served a legal notice on the former, seeking rent against their office, which according to the notice was donated by erstwhile ruler of Bhopal Shahjehan Begum and as such it was their property.

Speaking on behalf of Aukaf-e-Shahi, former MP Gufran-e-Azam said that notices have also been served to State Haj Committee, Masajid Committee and Aukaf-e-Amma, who also have their offices in Taj Premises, where MP Waqf Board office is also located.

He further said that Taj Premises was donated by erstwhile ruler of Bhopal Shahjehan Begum and as such it was property under the control of Auqaf-e-Shahi.

The notice served by lawyer A Q Siddiqui gave two months time to all the bodies in question to deposit rent up to October 2014 from the month and year their office came into existence in Taj Premises, failing which Auqf-e-Shahi would be constrained to move court for realisation of rent amount.
