The BJP on Sunday expelled senior leader Raghavji from the party when an FIR was lodged against him on charges of sodomy, after stripping him of his finance minister’s portfolio on Friday.
Madhya Pradesh BJP president Narendra Singh Tomar announced his expulsion at a hurriedly-called press conference at the party office within two hours of the lodging of the FIR.
A high drama unfolded in the morning when the leader of the opposition, Ajay Singh, produced before media persons the complainant, a domestic help at Raghavji’s residence, and there he reiterated his charges.
Whereas the BJP leaders frantically searched for him the complainant went underground after inquiring about the status of his complaint against the minister with Habibganj police station on Friday. He had lodged the complaint Thursday night.
On Sunday, he alleged the ex-minister, his domestic help Sher Singh Chauhan and the latter’s brother-in-law Suresh Chauhan of sexually exploiting him for more than three years. He was subjected to mental and physical torture and was also threatened of dire consequences if he went to the police.
Talking to journalists in the evening Tomar said the party took the decision in view of the developments in the past two days.
