A trainee sub-inspector (SI) posted at Habibganj police station here on Tuesday sought transfer to Shajapur district on the ground that her husband, an intelligence bureau officer in the state, wanted her to quit her job and often resorted to domestic violence.
Appearing before additional director general (ADG) Aruna Mohan Rao in a public hearing held at the police headquarters on Tuesday, trainee SI Manisha Verma Dangi requested a transfer to Sajapur district from Bhopal, so that she could stay away from her husband, who physically and mentally harassed her often.
In her application, the SI claimed that her husband beat her up often. She also accused her husband of threatening her and her brothers of dire consequences if she failed to quit her job.
Refuting the allegations, her husband, on condition of anonymity, said: "I never asked her to stop working. I only wanted her to give time to our family while working at the same time." He further said he was ready to resolve the difference between his wife and him.
The couple got married about seven years ago. Manisha Verma was selected as sub-inspector in 2013 and was posted at Habibganj police station in September 2014.
