Actors dancing considered normal, but singing is not: Parineeti Chopra
Parineeti Chopra talks about actors who take up singing, and asserts that it’s the most natural thing for actors to sing their own songs in films.
Actor Parineeti Chopra is passionate about singing, and looking forward to her debut as a playback singer in Meri Pyaari Bindu, co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana. The actor is glad that the audience is accepting actors as singers too. “ Many of my colleagues today including Shraddha, Alia, Ayushmann, Aditya, Ranveer are musically inclined. We are so glad that the audiences are open to all kinds of new talent and they’ve accepted us. Somehow actors dancing is considered normal. But when we sing, people are surprised. I am so glad we’re all doing what we love doing and what we have grown up doing, namely singing and dancing. I mean isn’t it the most natural thing for us actors to sing our own songs since we would understand our emotions better than playback singers?”

But Parineeti is quick to point out that playback singers are in a different league. “We have some terrific playback singers. Even in Meri Pyaari Bindu, Ayushmann and I won’t sing all the songs. Just a couple of them. But I am very excited. Singing is my passion.”

Parineeti is also excited about her next project. “I’ve signed Homi Adjania’s Takadum where I will get to work with Sushant Singh Rajput again. We had fun doing Shudh Desi Romance. Takadum is an intense love story. This film too is music-based. So I think music is now an integral part of my career,” she says.
Parineeti also clarified that she didn’t turn down Mahesh Babu’s Telugu film for Takadum. “No, no. There are so many films that are offered to us. It’s unfortunate that producers talk about actors being in their films before any papers are signed properly. But I’d love to work with Mahesh Babu. Even his wife Namrata is so lovely. I’d love to work with them,” she says.
