At Sanju’s trailer launch, the mystery behind Anushka Sharma’s role revealed
Anushka Sharma plays a reluctant writer, a lot like Rajkumr Hirani and Abhijat Joshi, in Sanju.
Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, who unveiled the first trailer of Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Sanju, had promised fans that he would reveal Anushka Sharma’s character with the trailer on Wednesday and he has kept his promise. “Anushka is playing a biographer from London who comes to India. Sanjay wanted someone to write his story but she doesn’t want to. She is basically playing a mix of me and Abhijat (writer Abhijat Joshi) ,” Hirani said.
Speaking about portraying the various stages of Sanjay Dutt’s life, Ranbir said, “I am more the romantic types, I am not the th*rki types. The most challenging part was young Sanjay Dutt - how he dealt with his mother’s death, drugs...first chapter was very challenging. It was certainly not chocolate at all, more of liquor.”
Asked about his mom Neetu Kapoor’s reaction to Sanju, Ranbir added, “My mom is my biggest fan, whatever I do she loves it. I did Bombay Velvet and she even loved it.”
Manish Koirala, who plays Nargis Dutt in the film, was also present at the event and said, “When Bombay released, I remember Dutt saab (Sunil Dutt) came up to me and told me ‘you remind me of Nargis ji.” Her statement made Hirani quip, “Wow, I didn’t know that!”
