Actor Sonu Sood has donned a new hat as he turned producer with his recently released film Tutak Tutak Tutiya that also starred Prabhudheva and Tamannaah Bhatia. Confessing that it’s not been an easy journey to reach here, Sood says, “It still feels I don’t have strong enough shoulders to actually take all the pressure. But I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process of taking all 500 calls and answering them while making sure everyone is listening.”
The only challenge that the actor faced while producing his first film was the fact that he wanted the best of everything. “The story, star cast, visuals, locations and everything else had to be just big. For me, it’s never-ending hunger to achieve that perfection. I try to give the best to the production demands, which is best to my abilities. For me, there is nothing called ‘shortcut’. Being a producer, I can’t compromise,” says the actor.
On whether it has become a natural progression for actors to take up direction or production, the actor feels nothing can be planned the way you want. “I’m an engineer and I never thought I’ll be an actor day but I became one. Then I never thought, I’ll be a producer and it’s also happened. So it’s a journey, a process and I always love living on the edge. Any new challenges, something new that I want to learn, know and excel in – I love to try it,” says Sood, who has worked in several regional films such as Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi and Hindi.

{{/usCountry}}He further recalls an incident when he was shooting for his first film in Punjab. “I never knew anything much about the craft, but still I was giving my inputs to art directors. I was helping them get all the utensils, props, fabric from the pre-independence era that made the sets look authentic. It was then; film’s crew told me that one day I will produce a movie because I have that urge to excel in every department.”
The actor, however, reveals that production was one thing, which he always wanted to get into ever since he came in this industry. “Destiny brings you where you belong to. Maybe I was always destined to become a producer. (Also) I wanted to do something special for my dad and I am glad I opened the production house on his name,” he shares.
