Cameo, not lead, clarifies Tabu

Tabu’s proximity to the Gulzar family is well known, so the news of her working with director Meghna Gulzar didn’t come as a surprise. However, contrary to reports, she isn’t playing a lead role, but a cameo in the film based on the Aarushi Talwar murder case.

family is well known, so the news of her working with director Meghna Gulzar didn’t come as a surprise. However, contrary to reports, she isn’t playing a lead role, but a cameo in the film based on the Aarushi Talwar murder case.

A source close to the actor says, “Tabu has a lot of respect and admiration for Gulzar saab, who has been her mentor. That’s why she agreed to do the special appearance in the film.

While speculations claim that Tabu has been cast in the film opposite Irrfan Khan, there is no truth to that. She has a special appearance in the film, for which she shot for three days.”

Bollywood audiences last saw Tabu in Jai Ho. The actor is known to be discerning about the projects she picks. Apparently, it was her comfort level with the Gulzar family, and with Irrfan (who she last worked with in The Namesake in 2006) that led her to do the film.

When contacted, Tabu says, “Yes, it’s a cameo of about five scenes. Boski (Meghna) is like my younger sister. I wanted to do this for her.”
