Chetan Bhagat whose bestsellers Five Point Someone, 3 Mistakes of My Life, One Night @ the Call Center and 2 States have been adapted into Bollywood films, would script Salman Khan's Kick now.

The author shared the news on Twitter.

"Happy to share with you that I'll be writing the screenplay of 'Kick' starring Salman Khan and directed by Sajid Nadiadwala," he wrote.

The basic premise of the story would be adapted from a Telugu flick. "Will be adapting Kick from original Telugu superhit, with fair amount of changes as well. Huge expectations, need all ur support! Thanks!" he says.

The writer also shared the storyline of the film on the micro-blogging site. "Kick is a about a guy who lives life only for his kicks, a powerful concept and a perfect recipe for a Salman-Nadiadwala blockbuster," says Bhagat.

Salman Khan has previously acted in the movie Hello adapted from Bhagat's book One Night @ the Call Center. "Have known both Salman and Sajid Nadiadwala for a while and been wanting to work with them. Couldn't have asked for a better screenplay debut," Bhagat adds.

The writer says he wants to reach the masses. "Many writers upgrade, get agents in London. I want to reach masses. The day I reach Indian farmers I'll consider myself a true Indian writer," Bhagat shared.

Who will kick off with Salman Khan?

Sajid Nadiadwala has been in the news following his surprise decision to turn director. After 25 years in Bollywood as a producer, Sajid’s move came as he replaced Shirish Kunder in the director’s chair for Kick. Now, he wants to ensure that he picks the right female lead opposite Salman Khan in the film.

Shirish Kunder left Kick: Salman Khan
Bollywood star Salman Khan Monday slammed speculations that Shirish Kunder was asked to leave Kick project following the not-so-great response to his Joker at the box office. Kunder had been roped in to direct Kick and now Sajid Nadiadwala will wield the megaphone for it. "No, that's not true. Shirish left the film. He is working on something else. Ho gaya clear (Is it clear)? Good," tweeted Salman, who plays the lead role in the film. INTERVIEW INSIDE

Shirish opted out of Kick a week before Joker's release

It was Shirish Kunder who volunteered to opt out of Kick. And it was decided by mutual consent that the matter would be kept under wraps until the release of Kunder's calamitous Joker. But Kunder texted to Salman immediately after the meeting with Nadiadwala informing the star that he is no more a part of Kick. Salman in turn, got in touch with Nadiadwala.

Shirish Kunder kicked out of Salman's film?

Buzz is that after Joker controversy, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has decided to take over the direction of Salman Khan starrer Kick from Shirish Kunder. “If things go as planned, Sajid himself will direct the film,” Sajid's friend told Mumbai Mirror. Reportedly the film has been conceptualised by Sajid.
