Don’t marry for the sake of it: Anil Kapoor to Sonam and Rhea

Dad Anil Kapoor has some sound advice for his daughters Sonam Kapoor, who has her big Diwali release Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo right around the corner and Rhea Kapoor, the filmmaker.

While parents often want their kids to settle down as soon as possible, actor Anil Kapoor, who has two daughters — actor Sonam Kapoor and filmmaker Rhea Kapoor, says he is in no hurry for them to tie the knot.

Sonam Kapoor is all set for her big Diwali release Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo.

Anil says the importance given to marriage has changed now and he wants his daughters to marry only when they feel they are ready. “Things have changed now. It all depends on what makes them happy. I tell them to only think of marrying when it makes them happy and not any time soon. Don’t marry for the sake of marrying,” he says.

Meanwhile, Anil is all praises for Sonam, who he feels handles herself very well in the public eye. “Every year she has improved and become better. And I think she handles herself pretty well,” he says, adding that he cannot prepare her for all the public scrutiny that comes with the territory.

“That is the most difficult part of this profession and that is what I have always told her. But no matter how much I mentally prepare her, there will always be ups and downs and highs and lows. That’s a part of life. You have to deal with it,” he says.

While they have no plans as of now, Anil says that he would love to work with Sonam. “At the moment we are not working together. In fact, as actors we have never worked together. There is no future project at the moment where I can say that we are working together. But we hope to work together. The films which she has done for the company, like Aisha, were produced by my younger daughter. So it’s they who have worked together, rather than me,” he says.

Meanwhile the actor is also working on making a desi version of American show Modern Family.
