Director Subhash Ghai was recently honoured with a special award for his contribution to Indian Cinema at the on going 9th Pune International Film Festival 2011. He received the Special Distinguished Award at the event. Ghai is the first filmmaker in the history of Indian cinema who has independently set up Asia’s largest institute for film, television, animation and media in Mumbai. His remarkable career spans up to 35 years as a writer, director and producer.
