I’ll not play another Bob Biswas: Saswata Chatterjee
His Facebook page may have close to 25,000 likes, and his ‘ek minute’ act in filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh’s film, Kahaani, may have prompted many jokes and one-liners on the Internet, but actor Saswata Chatterjee, who played the poker-faced contract killer Bob Biswas in the flick, says that he will never do a similar role again.
“It’s a unique character. I would never do something similar to it again,” he says. “I don’t think an actor should have any particular image, and that’s the reason I would not ever take up a similar role again,” says Chatterjee, who has acted in Bengali cinema and TV.
The actor also admits that unlike his character Bob, who gets an MMS of his prospective victim on a mobile phone, he finds cellphones irksome. “The way in which cell phones can be misused is best shown in the film. Besides, I have seen people becoming helpless when they lose their mobiles. It’s actually worse than drug addiction.”
As to his feelings about his new found stardom, Chatterjee says, “I am still confused. I never thought Bob would become so big!”
