For the film's director David Dhawan, it's the sound of sweet success being heard 6 years after Partner, hence bringing to close the longest lean period that the 60 year old suffered in his 41 films career spread over 24 years.

many out there said that David Dhawan was finished. Didn't that amuse you?

(Smiles) Yes, but then such things happen in the industry. People forget that in 24 years, I also delivered more than 24 clean hits. Suddenly only last two films were being talked about and even three biggies before that, Partner, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi

and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya were forgotten. Anyways, Chashme Baddoor is reminding them of these successes again, so that's good.

One could sense though that you brought in a mix of contemporary setting with 90s style treatment with Chashme Baddoor.

That was the intent. I returned to my roots with the film and executed the film in the way which was liked in my earlier films. Of course the look is new because I had to go by what today's youth demands. However I had to bring back my narrative from the past since today's generation wasn't exposed to that.

When Rascals and Do Knot Disturb flopped, wasn't it a period of self-reflection since they had big actors like Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Govinda in there? Wasn't there an added pressure since in Chashme Baddoor, you were in fact roping in relative new entrants?

. I just wanted to enjoy making the film and was not in any pressure whatsoever. Honestly, I made the film very casually. I stuck to my gut feeling and knew that it was just a matter of time before I delivered. So here I am talking to you.

Now that people are talking to you about the film being a success, what is it that you are cherishing most?

The very fact that they are saying - 'David Dhawan is back'. Now that is music to my ears because in this industry, not many manage to stage a comeback.
