Kangana Ranaut controversy 2.0: From Sona Mohapatra to Aditya Pancholi, who said what
From Hrithik Roshan and Aditya Pancholi to Sona Mohapatra and Apurva Asrani, Kangana Ranaut has made a lot of ‘enemies’ in Bollywood. Here’s a rundown of who said what in this latest round of controversies.Updated: Sep 08, 2017 14:15 IST
It seems like every time Kangana Ranaut makes a public appearance, a new controversy takes birth. What began as publicity rounds for her new film, Simran, have turned into daily mud-slinging matches. To be clear: This isn’t a continuation of the nepotism debate Kangana started after an appearance on Koffee With Karan, it’s a separate thing - she has a lot going on. One year after calling Hrithik Roshan a ‘silly ex’ and inviting a whole new world of controversy, Kangana has stoked the fire again.
She has always maintained that she is only answering questions honestly, and not shying away from what she considers to be the truth. And sensing her relative ease with the subject, it was all she was asked in her many interviews leading up to Simran.
Here’s a rundown on who said what.
“He sent me a notice seeking an apology and asked me to organise a press conference to clear his name,” she said. “He said he will date the pope but not me. He also threatened me to leak mails and do other things if I don’t apologise.”
“He made a file (of mails) just to keep my mouth shut. When did I say I want anything from you?” she asked, and added, “He himself has sent those mails from my account.”
Kangana also spoke about the affair she had with Aditya Pancholi when she was starting out in Bollywood.
“I was really young, and was one of those who would trust anybody easily. I used to think that those who are guiding you are good people. There was a person like that but later I got into a lot of problems due to him. I used to live in Asha Chandraji’s hostel, so I was asked why I live there. There was another woman, Kamleshji who was from Chicago. She was also in Mumbai for a career in acting. So, I said to that person ‘Aap hum dono ke liye koi apartment dekh lo’.
“He got an apartment for me but didn’t allow my friend to come there. It was a kind of house arrest. Then I went to meet his wife. His daughter is a year older than me. My film Gangster was about to release then. I met his wife and asked for her help. She said to me that they are happy whenever he is not at home otherwise he raises his hands on domestic helps and others around. It’s actually good for us if he is not around, so I can’t help you.”
“She is a mad girl, what to do, did you see the interview?” Pancholi told Bollywood Life. “Didn’t you feel like some mad person was talking? Who talks like that? We have been in the industry for so long, nobody has ever spoken anything so evil about anyone. What should I say, she’s a mad girl. If you throw stones in mud, it will only spoil your clothes.”
“I am going to take a legal action against her. She is lying that’s why I am taking legal action against her. I don’t know about other people, but as far as my story goes and what she has spoken about me, she has said all lies. She has to prove that I have done that. My family is very much affected by it. My wife and I will take legal action against her,” he added.
A day after the Aap Ki Adalat interview, Sussanne Khan, Hrithik’s ex-wife, came to his defence on Instagram. She posted a picture of the ex-couple, and captioned it, “There is no allegation or a sad evil plot that can have the weight to triumph over a good soul. #mafamilia #powerofthetruth #pureheart.”
Adhyayan Suman’s reaction
When approached by Indian Express, Adhyayan Suman, Kangana’s ex-boyfriend, who alleged that she practised black magic and put spells on him during their relationship, dodged the questions. “Sorry haven’t heard about the interview …been too caught up with the more important things in life… and I am not interested in knowing about it either.” After being told what the Queen star has said in her interviews, he added, “It’s ok for people to have opinions and at this time I don’t have one. Will talk soon. Need to get back for my shot.”
Karan Johar’s tweet
It isn’t clear who Karan Johar is talking about. But nonetheless, the timing of his tweet and his history with Kangana must count for something. “Ungrateful people need a reality check!!!!!!!!” he wrote on September 2.
Singer Sona Mohapatra wrote an open letter to Kangana on her Facebook page. In the letter, she said that Kangana was “washing dirty linen in public” and “regurgitating personal details”.
Simran writer Apurva Asrani, who was involved in a tussle of his own with Kangana, whom he alleged ‘stole’ his movie from him, wrote his opinion on Kangana’s latest wave of revelations.
Kangana had told Rajat Sharma that when her public spat with Hrithik Roshan had reached a fever pitch, she had approached Maharashtra Women’s Commission and was told not to pursue the case. However, the chief of the commission, Vijaya Rahatkar, has now spoken out and claims they were never approached. In a series of tweets, Rahatkar argued the Commission’s case.
Neither has Ms.Kangana Ranaut ever approached Womens Commission nor is Gurmeet Chadda associated with MSCW in any way. @RajatSharmaLive 2/3— Vijaya Rahatkar (@VijayaRahatkar) September 3, 2017
