Kangri attack was no big deal: Irrfan Khan

The actor says that the kangri didn’t hit either him or his co-star Shahid Kapoor, who was with him at the time of the incident. "Everyone will have their own interpretation of the incident. So it is not right to harp on it."

Actor Irrfan Khan, who was attacked with a

kangri

(pot filled with hot coal) in Kashmir while shooting for filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj’s Haider recently, says that the incident should not be blown out of proportion.



"It was a miniscule incident as compared to the entire Kashmir issues which is so complicated. The local Kashmiris have gone through humongous trauma and the problems that they are facing are unimaginable."



The actor says that the

. So it is not right to harp on it. There are bigger problems in Kashmir which need to be addressed," says the 47-year-old.



Apart from shooting for

, Irrfan is kicked about his Punjabi film Qissa winning the Dioraphte Award at the Rotterdam Film Festival – a first for an Indian film.



"I am delighted that our films are being accepted by the international audience, that my films such as Qissa and The Lunchbox are breaking barriers. We need to tell the world that our films are not just masala entertainers."
