Known for making family entertainers, Karan Johar was left shell-shocked after he was offered the role of a wife beater and a sex maniac opposite Priyanka Chopra in Vishal Bhardwaj's Saat Khoon Maaf.

Bhardwaj was keen to cast KJo as a wife-beater to add curiosity element to his film. Consequently, he requested Priyanka to use her influence on Johar to make him accept the role.

A source told Mid Day, "Vishal requested his heroine to put in a word. She promptly did."

But she couldn't persuade him to accept the outrageous role. Though amused by the offer he declined saying, "From what angle do I look like a wife-beater? And how could I enact a scene making love to Priyanka Chopra! And that too as a sex maniac! There is no way I could do this," reports the tabloid.

After the setback, Vishal finally cast Irrfan Khan for the role.
