Kunal Kapoor and his film ideas
Acting isn’t enough for Kunal Kapoor. He is now showing interest in script development
Kunal Kapoor is now venturing into script writing. “I’m not actually writing the script, its more like co- developing it. On the sets of Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana (his last film), I met a lot of like-minded people with whom I shared a lot of ideas, out of which they liked three,” said Kapoor, who was in the Capital to promote the new ad-campaign of Kurkure.
Asked to reveal details of his ideas, the actor said, “One is an action film which is sort of locked in a time period. The second will be a musical and the third a story about three guys. I’m really looking forward to see these ideas develop and see what happens with them.”
As for his last film, Anurag Kashyap’s Luv Shuv..., Kapoor is happy that it was able to break the stereotypical image of Punjabis. “The movie tried to show that there was a lot more going on inside a Punjabi rather than how he is percieved from the outside. I’m really glad that people liked it,” said the 35-year-old actor.
It seems he loves to play Punjabi characters as Kapoor will next be doing a Punjabi movie called Chamkila, based on controversial Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila’s life. He is happy that regional cinema is getting huge in the country. “We’ve had the South Indian cinema churning out blockbusters. Regional cinema going up in this country is good and I’m happy to be a part of it,” says Kapoor, adding: “As for Chamkila, the script is being written, but I can’t wait to start filming it.”
