Actor Rasika Dugal has steadily made a name for herself by starring in critically-acclaimed films such as Anwar (2007) and Qissa (2015). Now, she is all set to appear alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui in an upcoming film Manto, which is directed by Nandita Das. The 32-year-old feels that there’s still a “void” in her career that needs to be filled. “I am waiting for someone to offer me a film which has a big commercial release. That’s a void I have felt in my career. The kind of work I have done so far is rare and beautiful, and many actors spend their entire lives waiting to do these kind of roles. But none of the films I have done has got a release it deserved.”

Is she open to doing a full-fledged masala film too? “Why not?” she is quick to answer. “A film has to just interest me. I don’t walk into something with a prejudice. People are doing a lot of good work in this area too,” she adds.

While she has certainly done equally good work on television in the show P.O.W. – Bandi Yudhh Ke, she reveals why she hasn’t been seen in any saas-bahu daily soaps. “Conversations (for such shows) have always been initiated. But talks haven’t gone till the end. But I have realised that they are not something I will be happy doing,” says Rasika.
