Riya Sen, the lead actor in A Strange Love Story, will be kept out of the film’s ground promotions due to her unruly behaviour with the cast during the shoot. “I’m tired of Riya’s misbehaviour. Not including her in the film’s promotions was the only option left,” says producer Suresh Bhagat, who also introduced Salman Khan to Bollywood with Biwi Ho To Aisi in 1988.

Riya would allegedly arrive drunk on the sets and then insist on napping for two hours in the middle of the schedule. “Once she showed up at 4 pm for a 9 am shoot. She even stole a pair of jeans from the costume department and then began demanding Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 for shopping every day,” adds Bhagat.

Riya would not only harass the producer, but also the unit members. “Once when the unit producer sent Riya a SMS about being late, she replied to him with a text that read ‘Who the f**k are you to tell me? I’m not some newcomer’. When my dress man tried stop her from stealing the clothes, she said to him ‘if you want me to co-operate you should co-operate’. I have paid her Rs 25 lakh for the film, which is the highest she has ever been paid. And is this what I get in return?”

Riya complained to the Cine and TR Artists Association after being ousted from the promotions. Bhagat explained the situation to them, but is yet to receive a response.

On being asked whether the allegations are true, Riya says, “His clothes? I wouldn’t want to be caught dead in his kurta pyjamas. From where I come, I couldn’t embarrass Mr Bhagat by asking him for what he can’t afford. In fact I did him a favour by asking him to keep my remuneration. I hope his son comes out with flying colours after this film.” Bhagat’s son Eddie debuts in the film that releases on May 20 this year.
