Salman kept me close after Jiah's suicide: Sooraj Pancholi

Breaking his silence for the first time after his then girlfriend Jiah Khan committed suicide under mysterious circumstances in 2013, Hero actor Sooraj Pancholi that he is not guilty in the case. The actor says if he was wrong, he would have been a broken man today.

With the release of Sooraj Pancholi's Hero a few days away, the actor has decided to break his silence on the suicide of Jiah Khan, his then girlfriend. She had committed suicide in 2013 in Mumbai under mysterious circumstances but Sooraj kept silent on the incident.



Speaking to Indian Express, the actor said the death was "in nobody's control and was meant to happen". When asked in the interview if he would have preferred to begin his career on a clean slate, Sooraj said, "People didn't realise that I had lost someone. I lost my girlfriend (Jiah) who I was seeing for the past few months and I was really upset. But I think it was destiny and it was written in book of life."

Jiah Khan committed suicide in 2013.



Jiah, the 25-year-old British-American actor, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her home in Juhu on June 3, 2013. Her relationship with actor Sooraj Pancholi, son of actor couple Aditya Pancholi and Zareena Wahab, was said to be under strain and it was suspected that it drove her to end her life. Jiah's mother Rabia had alleged that Sooraj should be probed for the death.



however, said in thethat he had not done anything wrong. "Had I been guilty, then deep inside I would have been broken. But I know what the scenario was and I know that I am not guilty. That is what pulled me through."



He also thanked Salman Khan for standing by him during the difficult time. "The reason I love him (Salman) so much is because if it hadn't been for him or his support, I would still be struggling. I wouldn't have been able to become an actor because this industry throws you away during such times. He hasn't done that and has kept me close to his heart and I love him for that."
