Sonam Kapoor spends time with cancer patients, reads them poems, gives gifts
Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor visited the children’s cancer ward at the Tata Memorial Hospital last week; read out stories and poems to them, besides distributing gifts.
A few days back, Sonam Kapoor was made the goodwill ambassador of a charitable foundation that helps meet the nutritional needs of children suffering from cancer. Last week, despite being busy with her next film, Veere Di Wedding, the actor took time out to don the hat of a storyteller for the kids.
“Sonam visited the children’s cancer ward at the Tata Memorial Hospital. She spent a couple of hours with the kids there. Besides distributing gifts, she also read out stories and poems to them,” says an insider.

Apparently, Sonam’s reading session was organised by the charitable foundation she has joined hands with. “There was also a reading session of the book Gubloo And His Magic Rings, as it aims to create awareness among kids, in a fun and playful way, about the importance of eating right,” adds the insider.

Sonam has already pledged to look after the nutritional requirements of 10 kids suffering from cancer. “She also wants to create awareness about the importance of nutrition in a child’s cancer treatment. She hopes to set an example, and is working with a team of 24 nutritionists (who are also associated with the foundation) to provide the kids with everything they need to get through this challenging time,” adds the insider.

A few days back, Sonam had told HT Café, “I want to work towards making my country and the entire world a better place.”
