Sooryavansham completes 18 years today and Twitter can’t handle it
As Sooryavansham completes 18 years, the twitterverse is exploding with jokes and memes. More than the film or the star cast (that includes Amitabh Bachchan), the film is getting talked about for its (almost) everyday telecast on Sony Max.
Released on May 21, 1999, Sooryavansham was the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Suryavamsam (1997). It starred Amitabh Bachchan in a double role of both father and son. Though the film tanked at the box office, it has probably made an unprecedented record of the highest number of times a film was aired on TV.
Today, the film completed 18 years. Besides Bachchan tweeting about the film, the micro blogging website is flooded with people tweeting about the film, mostly jokes and memes.
Here’s what Amitabh Bachchan tweeted about Sooryavansham: “Its 18 years of ‘Sooryavansham’ ..a dynamic story, and one that has been on TV a lot .. have met many who have adored it ..Love”
The jokes are mostly on almost-everyday telecast of the film on the channel Sony Max. Here are some of the funny tweets:
