Bollywood actor Taapsee Pannu’s red-haired, feisty character in Manmarziyaan has got her family members thrilled. The actor, who is Punjabi, gets back to her roots with this film, which has been shot in Punjab.

Bollywood actor Taapsee Pannu is all set to showcase her Punjabi roots in her upcoming film, Manmarziyaan. And it’s not just Taapsee who’s excited about this role, but even her family members in Delhi and Amritsar are all praise for her character and are showering compliments on her, upon seeing the trailer.

The actor plays the role of a young, carefree Sikh girl, named Rumi, who doesn’t hold back when it comes to speaking her mind. In real life, too, Taapsee is equally quirky and fun-loving. A source close to the actor says, “Taapsee’s family and extended family know how her personality is behind the camera. So, when they saw her on-screen character Rumi bring out the true Punjabi [in her], they really enjoyed that bit in the trailer.”

Taapsee, who has played diverse characters such as a hockey player in Soorma; an Indian spy in Naam Shabana; and a lawyer in Mulk, says, “Though my parents have seen me in all possible avatars, my extended family has been pretty excited since the time they’ve gotten to know that Manmarziyaan is a story based in Amritsar. They are looking forward to seeing the Amritsari swag [showcased] in the film, and to seeing me as a feisty Punjabi kudi.”
