Actor Boman Irani, who is set for his latest romcom Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, co-starring choreographer-turned-actor Farah Khan, has said there’s no real age for love. “The movie is a love story of a man and woman in their forties, but their approach towards love is more immature and innocent than a teenager’s. Though forty-year-old lovers are far clumsier in their ways, it’s a matter of fact that anyone can fall in love and at any age. It’s society that makes the rules,” he says.
Boman, who is playing the role of lingerie salesman in the movie, was also a real-life salesman for 12 years before making it to the movies. “The salesman spirit was the same. The only difference is that, in real life, it was the wafer shop and now, it’s a lingerie shop. But my experience in a wafer shop can be referred to my acting school, as it helped a lot in building up my character in the movie.”
He says acting with Farah was difficult at first. “Though it was a bit difficult for me to romance Farah, we managed and our chemistry is being appreciated now.” Boman believes that being uncomfortable was the demand of his character (in the film) and it came naturally. “Thanks to my discomfort, it worked in my favour in the movie.”
He didn’t miss any chance to praise Farah’s acting in the movie. “She is a wonderful director, wonderful choreographer and when it comes to acting, she is wonderful again. Even if she doesn’t have any experience, I am sure this acting debut will make her audience love more,” he said. What’s next? “There is only Subhash Kapoor’s Jolly LLB in the line-up.”
