Having been a part of films such as F.A.L.T.U. (2011), Ungli (2014), Dear Zindagi and Pink (2016), actor Angad Bedi surely earned his share of critical acclaim and appreciation from fans. But one big commercial success was all that he needed, to give his career, the much-needed push, which finally came in the form of the 2017 blockbuster, Tiger Zinda Hai.
“Well, Tiger Zinda Hai has definitely upped my game, and I feel that every actor needs that one big commercial film — it’s very important. These films give you the pedestal to get more of such out-and-out commercial work, and I want to be in a position where I can keep doing diverse roles,” shares Angad.
The 34-year-old feels glad that despite a stellar star cast, including Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, he was allotted good screen presence, and his performance was appreciated by the audience. “Tiger Zinda Hai has given me more eyeballs. I have come into the market of Salman Bhai. A billion people who have gone to watch the film are going because of him and Katrina, and because of them. I also got my share of appreciation,” he beams.
The actor feels that while earlier not many filmmakers would have thought of him while casting for big films, the tables have turned now. And he credits all of this to the Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu-starrer Pink. “That film has been the game changer for me. I believe that everybody in life needs that one conversion point, and once that happens, people take you a lot more seriously. And Pink did that me. Because of it, I got Tiger Zinda Hai and my next film, Soorma,” maintains Angad, who wants to continue doing a mix of content rich and commercially viable content.
Recalling his dad, former cricket captain Bishan Singh Bedi’s advice that one should work with dedication and never worry about the results, Angad reflects, “Now, I do realise that sometimes all you got to do is just put your blinkers one, focus on your work, and keep moving forward, and the day will come when the universe will give you what you want.”
