Not only has Bappi Lahiri lent his voice for the song, he even features in the new disco number from Indu Sarkar.

Musician Bappi Lahiri is back with the latest song from Madhur Bhandarkar’s Indu Sarkar - Dilli Ki Raat. Apart from voicing the groovy number, he has also acted in its video.

Puneet Sharma has written the song that is a comment on the extreme dictatorship practised during the emergency under Indira Gandhi’s rule. Anu Malik has composed the music for the number. Bappi da, as he is fondly known, starts the song as if announcing his presence - ‘Salaam karo dost, ki baap aaye hain’.

Madhur Bhandarkar’s film has been accused of mocking some of the powerful politicians of the emergency period. It stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kirti Kulhari, Supriya Vinod, Anupam Kher and Tota Roy Chowdhury in important roles.

The emergency was imposed on June 25, 1975 when Indira Gandhi cited grave threat to her government and sovereignty of the country from both internal and external forces. It lasted till March 21, 1977.

Indu Sarkar has drawn the ire of the Congress party even before its release. Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam had last week penned a letter to CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani, asking for the movie to be screened for them before it is censored.
