Over the years, Punjabi songs have become a major part of Bollywood films. From tracks like Mauja hi mauja (Jab We Met; 2007) to Aaja mah’ (Singh Is Bling; 2015) — Hindi films have featured several Punjabi hits. Shahid Kapoor, too, is a fan of such songs, and apparently has a huge collection of this music.

“Shahid has a special album, which is a compilation of different types of Punjabi songs. It has folk Punjabi tracks, and even those with techno and hip-hop beats. He started listening to Punjabi music after the success of Mauja hi mauja’,” says a source close to the actor.

Apparently, whenever Shahid hosts a party at home, he becomes the DJ, and loves playing these songs.

“Not just at home. He carries his music player wherever he goes,” adds the source.

While the actor was unavailable for a comment, his spokesperson says, “Shahid’s taste in Punjabi music is varied, and his music collection is amazing. This is one of his favourite genres.”
