The BBC version of the book attracted six million viewers and the bookstores have now revealed that the story’s author Charles Dickens, whose 200th birthday celebrations are this year, is their latest best-selling choice.

The performances of Vanessa Kirby as Estella and Douglas Booth as Pip in the BBC drama were much appreciated by the viewers.

“The feast of Dickens on TV over Christmas and New Year has got people talking about him again,” the Daily Express quoted a Waterstones spokesman as saying.
