Cambridge-educated economist Bibek Debroy on Monday took charge as the new secretary general of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, succeeding BP Dhaka.

Debroy, who was educated at the Presidency College of Kolkata, the Delhi School of Economics and Cambridge's Trinity College, was director at the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation previously.

He began his career as an academic, teaching at the Presidency College, Gokhle Institute of Politics and Economics in Pune and the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and National Council of Applied Economic Research in New Delhi.
