'LatAm integral to India growth'

Minister of state for commerce and industry Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Thursday that there is an urgent need boost manufacturing, and to make inclusion of new markets from Latin American countries integral to India's growth.

"There is an urgent need to give a boost to manufacturing sector so as to increase employment opportunities for the large young population in the developing countries," Scindia said in the plenary session on the theme of "Achieving Inclusive Economic Growth" at World Economic Forum (WEF) Latin America summit in Rio de Janeiro.

Scindia met Alessandro Texeria, deputy minister of development, industries and international trade Brazil; Luis A Moreno, president, Inter-American Development Bank; Roberto Rodrigues, director, Getulio Vargas Agribusiness Centre and Luciano Coutinho, president, Brazilian Development Bank.

Scindia is leading a high-powered business delegation on a 10-day tour to Latin America.
