Nalco's net profit in Q3 at Rs. 119, up by 113% from previous fiscal

National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco), a Navratna public sector unit of Union ministry of mines has registered a net profit of Rs. 119 crore in the third quarter ending December 2012 – up 133% against Rs. 51 crore achieved during the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, a company official said today, Priya Ranjan Sahu reports.

National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco), a Navratna public sector unit of Union ministry of mines has registered a net profit of Rs 119 crore in the third quarter ending December 2012 – up 133% against Rs. 51 crore achieved during the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, a company official said on Wednesday.

The net sale also rose to Rs. 1670 crore, against Rs. 1430 crore registered during the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

“The net profit and net sales for the nine months ended December 2012 work out to Rs. 347 crore and Rs. 4974 crore respectively, against the corresponding figures of Rs. 567 crore and Rs. 4747 crore of the previous fiscal,” Nalco assistant general manager Santosh Mohanti said.

On the production front, during the first nine months, Nalco produced 12.70 lakh tonnes of alumina hydrate, as against 11.77 lakh tonnes achieved during the comparable period of the previous fiscal. However, metal production was slightly less at 3.05 lakh tonnes as planned, against 3.09 lakh tonnes registered during the comparable nine months of the previous fiscal.
