"For the industry as a whole, private bus operator market is badly affected by the current economic scenario. Business is coming mainly from institutional purchase and the state government orders under the JNNURM. As far as we are concerned, we expect our bus sales to go up 25 per cent this year," Volvo Buses India Pvt Ltd MD Akash Passey told PTI.

He said last year the company sold over 420 units of buses.

"Already we have a couple of hundred orders from the state governments. Our order book is looking good, not only from JNNURM (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission) but also from private operators," Passey said.

He, however, said the June deadline for delivery of buses is going to be difficult to be met as orders are still coming in from different state governments.
