Mahindra Vision.S spotted testing again; Inches closer to 2027 launch
Mahindra's new Freedom_NU platform supports various powertrains and will be used for the upcoming Vision.S SUV, expected to launch around 2027.
The Mahindra Vision S has been spotted testing on public roads again. The Vision S spotting appears to be from Tamil Nadu, as indicated by the registration plate. A user posted the spy shots on the social media platform, Reddit.
In August this year, Mahindra & Mahindra unveiled four new SUV concepts at its Freedom_NU event: the Vision.S, Vision.SXT, Vision.T, and Vision.X. Each concept showcased a different body style and use case, all shared under a single modular architecture, demonstrating the brand’s next phase of SUV design and engineering.

What's special about these new concepts?
At the heart of these concepts is Mahindra’s new monocoque platform, Freedom_NU, designed for flexibility to support various body styles and powertrain options. The upcoming Vision.S holds particular significance as it is expected to join the Scorpio lineup.
Mahindra has stated that the Freedom_NU platform supports petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains. Official details about the engine or drivetrain options for the production Vision. S are not yet available but are expected to be announced closer to the launch.
After entering production. Unlike the Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic, the Vision.S will be built on the monocoque Freedom_NU platform instead of a ladder-frame chassis and will be a sub-4-metre SUV, positioning it in a different segment.

When will the Mahindra Vision.S arrive?
Targeting a market launch around 2027, Mahindra seems confident that the Vision.S is the first of the Freedom_NU concepts to move toward production, with a test mule already spotted on Indian roads multiple times, indicating ongoing development.
What do we know about the Vision.S so far?
Spy shots reveal the test vehicle retains the boxy shape seen in the concept, including the rear-mounted spare wheel, a key Scorpio trait. A notable visual change is the front, where circular headlamps replace the inverted L-shaped lights from the concept. The overall proportions confirm the SUV will stay under four metres long.
Interior details remain unseen in spy photos, but based on the concept, the Vision.S is expected to feature a tech-focused cabin with dual digital screens and a modern layout. Closer to launch, more interior design details should be revealed.
