15 hurt as Haryana Roadways bus overturns near Lalru

As many as 15 passengers suffered minor injuries after a Haryana Roadways bus overturned near Sarsini village, 2 km from Lalru, on Ambala-Chandigarh highway on Thursday afternoon.

As many as 15 passengers suffered minor injuries after a Haryana Roadways bus overturned near Sarsini village, 2 km from Lalru, on Ambala-Chandigarh highway on Thursday afternoon.

Eyewitnesses said the mishap occurred after the bus driver had to apply brakes in his bid to avoid a crash with a scooter ahead of him. The incident took place at about 2 pm, when the bus was on way to Ambala.

Bus driver Gugan Ram said a couple riding on a scooter ahead of the bus slowed down the twowheeler abruptly. He said in his bid to avoid a crash, he had apply brakes and the bus went out of control and swerved towards the road divider and overturned.

Eyewitnesses said the bus passengers started crying and scrambled for coming out of the vehicle. The passengers came out of the vehicle through the broken front windshield. The injured were rushed in ambulances to the hospital. The couple riding on the two-wheeler sustained minor injuries.

ASI Naib Singh said that police had they had impounded the bus and the scooter. However, there was no complaint in this connection till the filing of the report.
