16-year-old abducted, raped in Nawanshahr village
A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped after abducting from her house in the Karyam village of Nawanshahr district on Tuesday late night. A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped after being abducted from her house at Karyam village in Nawanshahr district on Tuesday night.
The police registered a case against Ranjit Singh of Shahpur Patti village and Amrik Singh of Niamatpur village on Wednesday after the girl's medical examination, conducted at the civil hospital here, confirmed rape, said investigating officer Karamjeet Singh.
The girl's brother told the police that on Tuesday night, he and his family members went to sleep around 9pm. When he woke up around 11pm for drinking water, he found his sister missing from her room. He and his relatives searched for her throughout the night, but to no avail. The girl's brother suspected that Ranjit and Amrik had abducted her as they used to roam in the area on a motorcycle.
On Wednesday, the girl's family spotted her near the canal at Hansron village around noon. Later, she narrated her ordeal to her family members.
Karamjeet said the police were raiding various places to nab the accused. A case under sections 376, 363, 366A, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the duo.
