2,928 teachers promoted as lecturers in Punjab

The Punjab government today ordered the promotion of 2,928 teachers as lecturers with immediate effect.

Education minister Sikander Singh Maluka said on Friday that these included 178 teachers in Biology, 186 in Chemistry, 345 in Commerce, 140 in Economics, 203 in English, 5 in Fine Arts, 41 in Geography, 32 in Hindi, 463 in History, 215 in Mathematics , 15 in Music and 118 in Physics subjects.

Besides, 102 teaches in Physical Education, 499 in Political Science, 381 in Punjabi, 3 in Sanskrit and 2 in Sociology subjects have also been promoted.

He said he had personally taken up this exercise of promoting eligible employees to check stagnation, besides boosting their morale.

Maluka said that postings of all these newly promoted lecturers would be made in a transparent manner.
