70-year-old crushed to death

A 70-year-old man identified as Lajje Ram of Ghatadhar Jarol village of Gohar segment was crushed to death by a jeep (HP-65-2714) at Jarol area on Saturday.

Police said that incident occurred due to negligence of the jeep driver who drove the vehicle rashly without noticing that Lajje Ram was standing a few metres away from the vehicle. Local residents rushed Lajje Ram to the Community Health Center at Janjehali where he was declared brought dead. Family members and locals later gathered outside the police station and shouted slogans demanding that the driver be handed over to them

The police controlled the situation and registered a case under sections 279 and 304A of the IPC.
