A fortnight before the state goes to polls, Congress's local unit got a major jolt on Tuesday after two former councillors joined the BJP.
Gautam Prasad and Prem Malik were welcomed into BJP's fold by the party's Panchkula candidate Gian Chand Gupta at a media briefing held at the party's Sector 2 office. Malik's wife Kanta Devi is currently a Congress councillor from ward number 11.
Addressing the media, Gupta said the BJP would intensify its campaign in the next 13 days before campaigning comes to an end, adding that the party would also announce its manifesto soon.
He also accused incumbent Congress MLA DK Bansal of not meeting people's expectations.
Sushma Swaraj, Rajanth Singh to campaign Gupta ,Gian Chand Gupta announced that senior party leaders, including Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Smriti Irani, Rajnath Singh and Manoj Tiwari, are expected to address the party's campaign.
