Akali leader held for assaulting home guard

Akali leader Inderpal Singh, who assaulted a home guard jawan on traffic duty here on Friday, has been arrested.The incident happened when the home guard, Gurnam Singh, intervened after the car (PB06-2551) of the Akali leader hit an Innova. Acting on DSP (traffic) Prabhu Dass's instructions, Gurnam asked Inderpal to park his car on the roadside.

Akali leader Inderpal Singh, who assaulted a home guard jawan on traffic duty here on Friday, has been arrested.

SSP Rajjit Singh said here on Sunday that the police would produce Inderpal in court and seek his police remand.

The incident happened when the home guard, Gurnam Singh, intervened after the car (PB06-2551) of the Akali leader hit an Innova. Acting on DSP (traffic) Prabhu Dass's instructions, Gurnam asked Inderpal to park his car on the roadside.

When Gurnam tried to take the keys of the car, Inderpal, along with his two-three friends, assaulted him and even tore his uniform.
