Caller uses abusive language on police helpline

Police on Wednesday registered a case against an unidentified person for misbehaving and using unparliamentary language to a female constable on the night intervening of June 8-9.

Police on Wednesday registered a case against an unidentified person for misbehaving and using unparliamentary language to a female constable on the night intervening of June 8-9.

The accused called on police complaint number, 100, and started using abusive language. Following that the woman constable lodged a complaint at the Sector -3 police station and a case under Section 294 (obscene acts and songs) of the Indian Penal Code was registered.

Police said a similar call - in which a man misbehaved with the duty officer- was also received on Wednesday.
After verification of the call details, it was found that the accused is a resident of Sector 37, Chandigarh.

Police said, "It has been learnt the caller is mentally upset."Police said they were also probing whether he was the same caller, who abused the female cop or the call was made by someone else.
