CHB gives nod for lifts in houses of all categories

Continuing with the process of revised needbased changes in Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) dwelling units, the board has allowed lifts, wherever possible, for all categories of houses.
Board chairman Maninder Singh said, “We have allowed need-based changes and 13 approved clauses have been uploaded on the website of Chandigarh administration.”
He said the standard design of the lift would be prepared and uploaded on the website of CHB in due course.
As per the new policy, process for need-based changes has been simplified by eliminating any need for prior permission from CHB.
The allottees are allowed to undertake the additional construction by simply downloading the standard designs from the CHB website. However, owners are advised to get the structures designed from registered structural engineers.
NEED-BASED CHANGES THROUGH RWAs ONLY
Chandigarh Housing Board has also decided that board will entertain the demand for need-based changes through registered Residents’ Welfare Associations only.
The CHB has advised the house owners to form resident welfare bodies and get them registered with the Chandigarh Housing Board and also under the Societies Registration Act, 1960 by March 31.
The office-bearers of the associations should be transparent electoral process.
