Development plan ready for towns

In its efforts to give impetus to the development works in urban areas, the Haryana Government has prepared City Development Plans (CDPs) for 73 towns of the state to work out the gaps in basic amenities such as roads, drains, water supply and sewerage.

In its efforts to give impetus to the development works in urban areas, the Haryana Government has prepared City Development Plans (CDPs) for 73 towns of the state to work out the gaps in basic amenities such as roads, drains, water supply and sewerage.

Stating this here, an official spokesman said the state government had earmarked R1,695 crore for urban local bodies during the year 2011-12. A provision of R196.17 crore has been made for the year 2011-12 for urban local bodies department under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

Under this mission, seven detailed project reports costing R823.33 crore for Municipal Corporation, Faridabad has been approved by the Government of India. The CDP for Panchkula town, which was recently included under JNNURM along with Chandigarh and Mohali, has been approved by the state government and submitted to the government of India for earmarking funds.
