The Punjab government today issued detailed guidelines to all departments, boards and corporations for taking private buildings on rent for government offices.
According to notification issued by public works department, it has been decided that no objection certificate would be issued once in three years instead every year so that payment of rent was not delayed to landlord of the building.
The government has also authorised head of the department of each office for payment of rent if building has been taken on rent after the government approval and proper rent/lease deed had been entered for that.
The new instructions have also done away with the old clause that the minimum period for executing agreement would be 12 years.
It has been decided that in those building where offices was on rent since past more than 12 years, notional increase in the rent be made as per earlier instructions.
These decisions were taken in a meeting convened by the Punjab chief secretary.
